Marketing is the Long-Game

Marketing is the Long-Game

Content Marketing is not an overnight solution. In fact, Marketing in general is not a quick fix to your sales problems. So why invest money into marketing? It is about the long-term success of your business. Marketing is an investment into future sales.

I find a lot of businesses are stuck in the same rut of struggling to bring in new clients and refusing to invest in marketing. You have heard what the definition of insanity is, right? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Then there are other companies that tell me they have enough current customers and that they could not handle any more business. Most are working over 70-hours a week and never take a vacation. Again insanity. Marketing can grow your business to the point that you can hire additional help. Enjoy a better work-life balance and take those amazing vacations.

That is why I am so passionate about my job. I love helping people. I love it when our clients are happy with the results we bring them and even better when our clients grow and create more jobs. It’s what gets me up every morning and ready to start my workday.

So back to the long-term game. When you do decide to market your business, you have to look at the end game. What are you trying to accomplish and realistically how much time and effort will it take to get you to your goal?

The average person has to see a commercial between 7-14 times before it registers what the commercial is selling.

If you go the traditional route and create and air a commercial, you need at minimum 13 weeks before you start to see results. Why? The average person has to see a commercial between 7-14 times before it registers what the commercial is selling.

Content marketing can take even longer because the goal behind content marketing is to build a loyal following of potential customers. You build a following by being consistent and frequent with your content. If you write a blog, host a podcast, post videos, or whatever form of content you want to create, make sure you do it on a consistent basis. Otherwise, you will never build an audience and it will never bring you new business.

“If you build it, they will come,” is a great line from a great movie, but that is not how content marketing works. It’s not enough to create content, you have to promote the content you create. You can promote your content through paid social media posts, be an expert guest on another person’s podcasts. There are a lot of ways to push out your content, and organic growth alone can work, but takes even longer to see results.

Helping businesses is my passion, so feel free to reach out and let me know how I can help.
